Acupuncture and Chinese medicine

A treatment with an acupuncture and Chinese medicine practitioner is a wholistic approach to care that can include a multi-faceted approach including acupuncture, Chinese and/or western herbs, acupressure, massage, cupping, gua sha, or moxibustion.

Heather Ellsworth L.Ac. MAcOM Heather Ellsworth is a licensed and board-certified acupuncturist, herbalist and practitioner of Traditional Chinese medicine from Missoula MT. Heather was inspired by her mother, a nurse-midwife, at an early age and has been interested in medicine and women’s health ever since. She graduated from the University of Montana with a degree in Biology with a Botany emphasis. Then continued her studies in western herbalism with Michael Moore at the Southwest School of Botanical Medicine and became a Certified Clinical Herbalist in 2003. In 2009 she graduated from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine with a masters degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, she is also a Board certified Chinese herbalist.

After finishing her studies at OCOM she completed a year and a half post-graduate training in Portland, OR with Dr. Hong Jin DAOM, M.D.(P.R.C.) specializing in women’s health, infertility, and pregnancy support. Along with seeing a variety of health conditions in her private practice she also provided group acupuncture specifically for fertility, pregnancy, and postpartum women at the Alma Midwifery Education and Movement Center, in Portland.

Since 2009 she has been studying Hara (abdominal) diagnosis and Kiiko Matsumoto style Japanese acupuncture with her teachers Kiiko Matsumoto and Monika Kolbyleka.

She moved home to Missoula, MT with her family in 2012 and opened Mountain Sage Acupuncture. Heather brings to her patients a sense of comfort and understanding. Through a process of careful listening and gentle touch she will come to a diagnosis of your unique condition and find an individualized solution to bring you back to wellness.
